Residential Child Care Worker

Currently our client are looking for an already proven Residential Child Care Worker to work throughout the Darlington and Teeside area independently as well as in teams. This position is to provide a high level of personal support to Disabled Children receiving short break care, you will be required to implement, review and prepare individual Children's care plans and provide a working knowledge of current child care legislation and procedure. It is essential that you have an Enhanced Disclosure from within the last 12 months, this CRB is necessary due to the nature of the work you would be involved with - such as working with vulnerable Children on a daily basis.
The Job:
1. To work in partnership with others to ensure the requirements of the National Minimum Standards for Children’s Homes are met.
2. To provide a high level of personal care and support for Disabled Children receiving short break care.
3. To participate in implementing, monitoring and reviewing individual young people’s Care Plans to meet the identified needs and to participate in planning meetings and Looked After Reviews as necessary.
4. To work in partnership with young people, their families, Social Workers and other relevant agencies in meeting the physical, social and educational needs of the young people. To take on the role of a key worker.
5. To ensure that work with young people is in line with legislative, procedural and good practice requirements.
6. To ensure the safety and welfare of young people, ensure their rights are effectively provided and safeguarded and provide good quality care, which is free from oppressive features.
7. To understand and be familiar with our client Safeguarding Children’s Board, Child Protection Procedures and to implement them appropriately.
8. To work as a member of a team, communicate effectively with colleagues and to attend and participate in induction, supervision, appraisal and staff meetings as required.
9. To undertake training as required, achieving and maintaining practice competence.
10. To contribute to service and practice developments within the residential service.
11. Any other duties of a similar nature related to the post which may be required from time to time.
The correct candidate for this position will be able to communicat effectively, lending the ability to work swiftly within teams as well as having a strong work alone initiative to operate effectively on a number of tasks; therefore being organised and efficient.
