Child Carers - Team Manager

The Company:

Our Client are one of the largest North East Social Care Divisions, providing vast opportunity within the Social Care Sector to progress and obtain long-term Child/Social Care contracts, across the North East.

This is a post fitted to a candidate with an already proven background in Management within a Social or Child Care environment, enabling a confidence to step straight in to such a post with minimum guidance and have a capability of using a work-alone initiative.

A suited candidate would be Social Care Qualified and be capable of being based at different locations across Teeside week-by-week. The general basis of work will be carried out at within an office environment, alongside general visits to Children/Day care Centres.

The Job:

1. To ensure the effective delivery of social care services to a specific group of service users as defined by the Service Manager (Looked After Children).

2. To be responsible, under the direction of the Service Manager for the standards of the team, including work allocation, supervision, workload review, target setting and performance appraisal.

3. To assist the Service Manager in preparing the team’s contribution to the Unit’s Service Plan and to contribute to the planning and development of future services.

4. To liaise with colleagues in other departments and agencies to ensure effective working relationships and co-ordinated services.

5. To manage the delegated budgets and resources with due regard to economy, efficiency and effectiveness.

6. To take an active part in the corporate management of the Service and to lead on relevant projects as directed by the Service Manager.

7. To enhance the Department’s image within the our client by promoting awareness of services and achievements and encourage greater participation.

8. To take reasonable care of your own health and safety and co-operate with management, so far as is necessary, to enable compliance with our clients health and safety rules and legislative requirements.

9. To take an active role in the recruitment and personal assessment of all employees for whom the postholder is directly responsible and ensure development and training requirements are continually met.

10. To assist in the training and development of staff and to undertake such personal training as may be deemed necessary to meet the duties and responsibilities of the post.

11. To participate in the resolution of complaints as appropriate across the allocated department.
